Alim (Mistry) has a good life. He has moved in with Giles, his super-sexy boyfriend and he is very happy. Giles (Kris Holden-Ried) of course has no reservations about being gay, living in London and all. Alim,on the other hand, is from a Muslim family. His family lives far away and has no idea he is not interested in women. When his traditionalist mother comes to visit, meaning to find the perfect girl for his son, Giles has to pretend he is Alim’s straight room-mate. Giles’ sister is introduced as Alim’s loved one and even the idea of a bride from another culture is enough to drive the mother nuts.

Kyle MacLachlan plays Alim2s imaginary companion, Cary Grant’s spirit. He sort of displays the only father figure in Alim’s life. The mother develops a close friendship with Giles; having no idea that he is actually his son’s lover. Alim’s mother is not the only problem. Giles is having difficulty understanding Alim’s reservations. When the truth is revealed, all hell breaks loose for everyone.

The movie is very funny, sweet and emotional. The cultural differences are told in the most poignant way. You go between wanting to hug the mother and punch her and it goes same with Giles. Just sit back and be ready for laughs.

Beautiful, light, brilliant and funny little movie. I really appreciate acting and script. Cary Grant spirit’s character is exhilarating and Kyle MacLachlan is perfect in it. Giles is that kind of guy that everyone falls in love with. His spirit and his gallantry was misunderstood even by Alim’s conservative mother…that’s how seductive he is.
This movie is a brilliant lesson that elegance in love is not only a heterosexual feature.

Yep. And I fell in love with Kristen Holden-Reid. I loved the first couple of episodes of The Tudors. I mean Jonathan Rhys and Kristen all together? Brillaint package;)

I love the culture/society of the whole thing. Great name too. Fingers crossed for a heterosexual Giles- although I’d prefer a version who wouldn’t go sleeping around when he gets depressed:D

Giles i gay after all. An hetesexual version of him should be not so promiscuous (even I don’t believe what I wrote:)
I should make another tribute video to Jonathan in Tudors, he was so succulent! I’ve already done one…

Ha ha. I don’t believe you either:)

The Tudors video is awesome!!! I liked the first season a lot but they it just got too drama-drama-drama for my taste and Jonathan is getting worse (as in character) in every episode.
But I love him with a sword. And you had quite a way of showing he is so hot:)
    The guy’s attractiveness seems out-of-this-world…

You should watch Tangled. Did you see that one?

p.s. I just love the ending kiss in Touch of Pink. So cool, pasisonate and romantic. Giles did good;)

Wich kiss? The one on the balcony? I saw again the kiss at the wedding and the two actors seem not gay at all. They were really awkward in doing that, specially Kristen. I love love love Cary Grant’s character, his way to talk is exhilarating! And I love Alim’s mother’s smile.
I didn’t see the second season of Tudors until the end but I understand what you mean. It has a bit bored me too because it wasn’t exciting like the first one. But maybe it’s because Henry VIII was now an adult king and the youth years were gone and with them even the head shots and the ferments of love. Remained only politics and the tyrannical character of a boundless power king.
Yes I’ve seen Tangled. The movie is so-so, quite flimsy little story, but Jonathan was memorable. I don’t know if for skills or for beauty (maybe more for the second option). I had not realized until now that there was Shawn Hatosy and now I would like to see the movie again. He is a terrific actor and after Soldier’s Girl I’m interested in his every move. I’m glad that you appreciated my Tudors video.

I actually liked Tangled. I loved the twist at the end. Not every movie lets the “bad guy” win. Every character is gray but the good guy turns out to be not good at all. I do like the story. Well, it is better than other screenplays about problematic college kids movies.Or maybe it is really special to me because I discovered Jonathan in that movie;)

Shawn indeed pulls a great psycho. He is a good actor. Did you see 11.14? That’s one creative and fun and interesting movie? Shawn is there and the rest of the cast features Patrick Swayze, Hillary Swank and also Rachel Leigh Cook from Tangled. Here’s 11.14:

The wedding. I didn’t find it awkward. I think it was cute, with the right amount of lust and angst. But no, I don’t think that they are gay either. But then again, I really wouldn’t mind Kristen to be gay;)

11.14……that’s another movie I have to see then.
My new friend is a bottomless pit of movie discoveries:)
