Buffy The Vampire Slayer: A Love Story with a REAL Twist 3

Former evil Spike (James Marsters) who  wants more than being a sex slave; former innocent virgin Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar) using the guys love to get over her feeling of disconnection and apathy.

buffy and spike- at it.again.
This is a photo shoot. Damn, it would have made a great scene.

Oh, that’s really funny. So I like the guy playing the vampire and the character he portraits. But when you think about it, this girl lost her virginity to the love of her life -Angel (David Boreanaz)- missed him for years to come- she was in college when she met another boyfriend. So Spike is technically the 3rd guy she has been with. She has switched from the girl next door to sex-crazed, “let’s have the sex and not the conversation”  type of person? And Spike is considered to be the 2nd most dangerous and vicious vampire, the first being Angel(us) , and now he would give everything and do anything to be with her? You so enjoy this. It is also fun to watch Spike turn into your favorite character…
So after they have this mind-blowing sex, Buffy wakes up and is like “shit, what the hell have I done”. Of course Spike is enjoying his sex appeal on Buffy- this is the only effect he has on her and only this to hold on to. And her mixed signals continue. She refuses to look at him or talk to him (like they used to), impatient and aggressive when he is being just friendly. So basically he does have to act like an asshole sometimes -just to get his point across. At one point- after a marathon of sex- he asks her if she even likes him. And she answers “sometimes” seriously- she did deserve the bitch queen award so many times.
And then at one point, although she enjoys being with him, she shouldn’t be with him. He does love her, she is just using him and she breaks up with him.
At the wedding of 2 gang members (marrying each other), she sees Spike and a goth girl he has brought as a date. When she catches him alone, she goes over. They have the sweetest conversation.

Buffy: Nice attempt to make me jealous.
Spike: Did it work?
Buffy: A little. In case you are wildly curious, yeah, it hurts.
Spike: Sorry..I mean GOOD. (they smile at each other)
Buffy: I should pro..
Spike:We could go..
Buffy:No,you have every right to be here.
Spike: We should leave…
Buffy: To your place?
Spike: That was the plan, yeah. (meaning what he’s supposed to be) Evil.

Here, Spike is a little awkward, shy yet friendly. And so is Buffy. And ironically enough, for the first time, they seem to be catching the same frequency.

Oh, Spike leaves and misses the big scene. The guy leaves the girl at the altar, at a sudden and strong rush of panic…

But of course it is not really that easy for anyone to get over such strong feelings at the snap of fingers. So Spike went to the magic shop- where Buffy and friends work and hang out…He actually wants something supernatural to get over his pain. The girl who was left at the altar is there and she offers a bottle of alcohol. They talk and get along and understand each other. They are both angry, hard-broken and fragile. And after being the shoulder to cry on for one another, they take it one step forward. And they have sex. It is passionate and full of longing, yet it is much more intimate and gentle-compared to what Buffy and Spike did. The catch? Everybody found out. Worse, everybody watched it because some villain had placed a camera in the shop, none of them knew, while discovering where the camera was- buffy and the girl’s ex saw them. So the ex went over to kill Spike, Buffy went to stop him.
Ironic and funny things:
1)  The guy is angry& furious she had sex. As a girl, I would probably kick his ass right there. Because as evil as he was Spike was before-even he didn’t treat his girlfriend like that.
2) Buffy looked hurt. Oh boy
3) The guy who never liked Angel and liked Spike even less- used to make fun of Spike’s feelings for Buffy all the time. Like she would never have anything to do with him. And Spike never said anything- even when they were having sex- just because Buffy didn’t want it known.
Of course at this point he just said:
“(meaning his body)” It was good enough for Buffy…

After this point- Spike did one really horrible thing.

To be cont.’d.

buffy and angel- just before she kills him
Buffy and Angel- just before she kills him

So;

Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar) had to kill her boyfriend who had just turned back to good again. She had to,or the whole world would be destroyed-including him and her. Still, how is that for a guilty conscience and a shitty summer?

Return of Angel:

So the guy is sent back from hell and he has to work at going sane again. He also tries to repress his feelings for Buffy, and Buffy for him-and they both fail. Spike (James Marsters)  teases them by them really well by saying:

-You are not friends, you will never be friends. You will be in love until it kills you both. I might be love’s bitch (meaning his nutjob vamp.girlfriend) but at least I am man enough to admit it.

A word on Spike (James Marsters) of course, the cool, funny and crazy billy-idol look alike-punk rock brit vampire. He is evil.He used to be Angel’s best friend during his evil days.

Meet Spike.
Meet Spike (James Marsters).

Despite his remarks, and everybody else’s for that matter; So Buffy and Angel has this on again off again thing, until Angel decides to leave town for good, since he wants Buffy to have a normal relationship with a normal guy who can be with her day and night, who can enjoy daylight without bursting into flames, and who can give her children,

After Angel was  gone:

Relationship- love story wise, for almost the next 2 seasons, the show was boringggggg! However the only interesting thing added to the story of Spike: A secret government division that made experiments on demons and all sorts of beasts captured Spike somehow and placed a chip inside his brain, preventing him to hurt any human being. Well, he can try and hurt but it gives him such a powerful migraine that after one punch he throws, he has to recover from the incredible pain. When he escapes and realizes he can’t physically be evil anymore, he just joins Buffy and her friends- so he can at least have fun beating other creatures and killing them.
So Spike hates Buffy and others and they hate Spike. But he is useful, so nobody kills him. But with all the fighting and hanging out together and needling each other, at some point Spike realizes that Buffy does get on his nerves but he has fallen in love with her. He hates the whole idea but can’t fight it.

A soulless formerly bad guy,in love:

So Angel had a soul and he fell in love Buffy. Spike fell in love without a soul- so great success in my opinion. This of course made the story really fun. Even if he tries to tell and show Buffy, she doesn’t take him seriously. So the sarcastic, verbally abusive relationship goes on and on. The friends who know Spike’s feelings make fun of him and stuff. Spike does fantasize about killing them.  At one point, sick of being treated so badly by Buffy-he gets a gun. He thinks he can pull the trigger- and even though his headache will kill him, she will be dead and he will have got rid of his problems. So he hides in the bushes outside her house, gun ready, waiting for her to appear. But Buffy had just found out her mom was terminally ill and she was very upset and fragile when she came outside. She was crying. The moments he sees her like this all his anger melts, and he goes to her and comforts her- patting her on the back, letting her cry. And she lets him.

Buffy and Spike
Buffy and Spike

So slowly- Buffy came to trust Spike- with her friends’ and her safety. The show being supernatural, Buffy sacrificed herself to save the world and her sister. When she died, the really touching reaction was of Spike’s- he just collapsed and cried- looking just…helpless.
But her friends worked with magic and managed to bring her back to life. The problem was Buffy came back with a more depressed personality. Moreover, she wasn’t happy she was back. And since she had to pretend to be all happy for her friends, she just went to Spike every time, because with him, she could just be herself and he understood. The relationship between them became sweeter. When she first came back, her hands were hurt and she looked so out of place, Spike didn’t start partying. He just sat her down and was really gentle with her and asked her how she felt. The thing that made me forget all his former sins and vices :

Buffy: How long was I gone?
Spike:47 days yesterday. 48 today. But today doesn’t count, does it? How long was it for you?

So he makes it about her and not about him. When her friends rush in, all loud and curious, he just disappears.
Now guys- here is the thing. The guy playing Spike is gorgeous. Even with bleached hair. No, I take back.Especially with bleached hair.  Now that he can show a wider range of emotions- he can look longingly, unhappilly, expectantly or whatever and then goes back to his sarcastic and witty self as a form of self defense, I root for the guy. He is more fun then Angel, really good-looking, great body, cool voice…Great combination all around.
Buffy goes to him and they talk together, drink together. Then something else happens. During a night after weird events, Spike again leaves the humans together, but Buffy goes after him, feeling more at home and at ease with him. And they kiss. Passionately. Like their lives depended on it. The kinda kiss that makes all your kisses seem… well… not very satisfying or  fulfilling…

Buffy and Spike,first kiss
Buffy and Spike

But the next night, when Spike wants to talk about it, She is all distant and unfriendly again. Talk about miixed singles. Yet the next night, again she is feeling lost, sitting at the local bar alone. When Spike tries to talk to her, she sends him away. How does the night end? With another wild and passionate and longing kiss.

Buffy and Spike kiss-again
Buffy and Spike kiss-again

The night after? She is again treating him like he is delusional idiot. The funny thing is, she is the one starting them. Following him.So again when Spike wants to talk and she treats him awfully. Moreover, she actually hits him,for him to stop insisting and talking. Angry, he hits her back. To his surprise, he doesn’t feel pain. Somehow, the thing in his head-that stops him from hurting humans-stopped working with Buffy. But he pretends that he is hurt. Buffy, confident that he can’t fight back, calls him that he’s an evil thing and kisses were kisses that won’t be repeated.

So the following night, Spike calls Buffy and tells her to meet him. She doesn’t, and she runs into him later. She is again rude and sarcastic. He specifically makes her hit him and then hits her really hard. To her dismay, they start this really intense fight-both fight great, both are extremely strong and both are extremely emotionally charged: Spike because Buffy treats him like Dirt, Buffy because she can’t handle that she came to depend on Spike and is really attracted to him. So they kick and punch and pull all stylish martial arts stuff. They throw each other around. At one point, Buffy can’t cut back her speed and he pushes Spike in to a really old building door, entering with him. ( the door isn’t open- Buffy makes a human sized hole with Spike and herself!!!). So at this point, they say a couple things, throw in more blows. Spike makes fun of Buffy- the way that she is disoriented and can’t decide whether to be a good girl or bad, Buffy makes fun of Spike as he is a vampire, yet instead of trying to kill Buffy he is “making moon eyes at her”. And again throws him into the wrecked fireplace. Then the most “romantic” dialogue ever. By the way, fight doesn’t stop.

Spike: I am in love with you
Buffy: You are in love with pain. You only want me because you enjoy being beat down.
Spike: Hello, Vampire!!! I am supposed to be threading on the dark side. What’s your excuse?

After this, Buffy has Spike pushed and leaning against a wall, she has his collar in tight grasp. He starts to say:

Spike: You afraid I’m gonna…(not letting him finish, she kisses him- a starting another full blown kiss, yet this one seems even wilder and more passionate than the previous two. They bump into walls, wrecking them. At one point, Buffy shoves Spike to the wall across, and continue kissing there. Then She stops kissing him, while looking at him with lust,we hear her taking of his belt, throwing it away and unzipping. Even Spike is caught a little offguard. So here they are kissing and having sex on their feet- turning and pushing the other against the wall, while kissing. When Buffy leans on Spike- they both lose balance- but since the building was already coming apart, when they hit the floor, it collapses and they find each other two floors down- on the ground, Buffy on top…

From left to right: Angel (David Boreanaz), Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar), Spike (James Marsters)

The first time I saw Buffy The Vampire Slayer,  I had changed the channel faster than I could blink: the creatures (the bad guys, that is) were so damn ugly.

But then I caught a glimpse of this tall, dark, brooding and handsome guy named Angel (David Boreanaz)…He was so cool without being cold, and he was strong, gentle and thoughtful. And MYSTERIOUS.

Angel
Angel played by David Boreanaz

OK, so I started wondering about this gorgeous stranger. He showed up exactly when Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar) needed her, was sweet enough to have her yearn for him, and disappeared before we could really find out who he was. He was falling for her too and things were getting complicated. See, this guy didn’t have a commitment problem. He didn’t have the typical guy issues (see fear of commitment).

But she never saw him during daytime and he didn’t talk about football or music or anything like that. He just kept warning her about the dangers ahead. After almost dying out of curiosity, we found out this guy was a vampire. Not any vampire though, he was a nice guy.

The problem was back in Ireland, 200+ years ago, he was just a rebellious, party-loving young man. A hot girl in a dark alley makes eyes at him…and turns him into a vampire. So no heartbeat, no image in the mirror, allergy to sunlight and no soul are what he gains, as well as being evil (no soul so no conscience) and he terrorizes the hell out of the world with the vampire girl who turned him.

Then a gypsy family decides to avenge by putting back his soul. Now, you have a guy who remembers everything he has done and suffers from it…Then he decides to be helpful and help humans. Of course the girl he falls for is the one who’s supposed to kill vampires. One night, they kiss, then he shows his vampire face and things get…exciting. Seriously, think about this: your boyfriend is a good guy turned bad then turned good again? You can’t walk during the day with him? He’s a couple of centuries older than you?

Now unlike other shows, their issues are (though supernatural) more substantial than stuff we often see on shows or movies. After she finds out his story, they can’t decide whether or not to be together: The girl is 16, a student and her job is to kill non-human creatures.

Most of the time, they give in to passion, lust and love. But there’s one more problem: they can’t have sex. The family who has put back his soul made sure that he loses it if he ever became perfectly happy. And Angel thinks that making love with the girl he loves might do just that…

Of course one night, when they were almost both killed, she gets reckless and they have sex.

Buffy and Angel
Buffy and Angeand passion and tells him to let go and they have sex.

The next morning, goes the man of a lot of dreams and comes the evil without the soul who wants to destroy the world.

The story continues here.

Angelus
Angelus. Yep, the make-up doesn’t really look hot on David.
