Gotthard Singer Steve Lee Died!

I am definitely not having a great year when it comes to celebrity/musician/actor deaths this year. Well, 2009  wasn’t really a walk in the park wither since we lost actresses Natasha Richardson, Brittany Murphy and Farah Fawcett, actor Patrick Swayze, pop legend Michael Jackson and more. 2010 wasn’t too bright either as actors Dennis Hopper and Tony Curtis (father of actress Jamie Lee Curtis) died this year. In the music world, Poison singer Bret Michaels was having a the most terrible year with his health, Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler was falling on the stage, maybe signaling that he has in fact gotten too old for his wild and hyperactive stage theatrics. Oh, and DIO singer Ronnie James Dio died!

I might be two days late, but just found out  rock/heavy metal band Gotthard’s singer Steve Lee died. Lee died in a motorcycle accident, at the age of 47. And if you ask me, 47 is a pretty young age to die, even by rock n roll standards.

Rest in Peace, Steve Lee. The song video is of the song The Call, from the band’s 2007 album Domino Effect.

Top 3 Moments to Rain at a Concert: Featuring Garbage, Bon Jovi and Travis

It is all great when your favorite bands have great stage shows with impressive stunts, or just even little theatrics that go hand in hand with the song’s lyrics. But sometimes nature helps and the whole experience becomes more surreal. Here are top 3 concert moments when it rained:

1) Travis- Why does it always rain on me?

The song is from their 1999-dated The Man Who Album. The lyrics go something like this:

And yes, during a concert, it started raining right in the middle of this song.

2) Garbage- Only Happy When It Rains

This happened at a concert in Turkey. Shirley Manson was singing Only Happy When It Rains and well, the weather must have decided to put a smile on her face. I am not an absolute Garbage fan, or a big rain fan for that matter but I love this particular combination. The song is from their 1995 debut album Garbage.

3) Bon Jovi- Keep The Faith

Well, this song doesn’t have rain in the title, but it features this special part in the chorus: “…Keep the Faith…when you’re going through the rain…” I’m afraid I only caught this on a concert DVD, but it was still a blast. Keep The Faith is from the 1992 album of the same name and it is one of my favorite Bon Jovi songs and albums.

Well, Bon Jovi has been my favorite band since I was 11. I am now 25 and still a major fan.

I saw them live once in Munich, Germany at the Olympic Stadium with about 70.000 people and it rocked. I am fan of the lyrics, music, vocals, concert performances and the guys’s attitude for life so it is no surprise that I got to write about them a lot.

Since this band has been founded in 1984 and have been active ever since, it is of course impossible to cover everything. I am yet to write individual album reviews, for instance.

You can’t stop rocknroll is the title song of the Twisted Sister album You can’t stop rocknroll. Having been an avid rock fan since I was  11, I always loved songs that celebrated my favorite music genre ever. As you grow up, you grow more flexible with music preferences. You can feel more relaxed about genres and that you wouldn’t be caught dead listening to ten years ago. Still, the core remains the same and it is rock n roll. Since it is a way of expression and celebrating life, parties and good fun (you guessed right, I am not exactly a Nirvana fan), I wanted to collect all my rock related posts under one roof post.
